About Phil
Qualifications and Experience
Phil is an Accredited Driving Instructor (License No TL141218) who specialises in teaching manual transmission. He holds a Certificate IV in Transport and Logistics (Road Transport - Car Driving Instruction) and is also a Blue Card holder.
With experience teaching over 1,000 clients per year, Phil caters to a diverse range of clients including young, mature, and international individuals.
Background
Phil was born in Durban, South Africa, where he spent the early years of his life. He is married to Janette, and together they have two sons, Joshua and Zachary. Family has always been an important part of his journey, shaping many of his priorities and decisions.
Phil migrated to Australia in 1970 with his parents, settling in Epping, Sydney, NSW. His education took him through Ashfield Boys High School and Epping Boys High School, both in NSW.
In November 1975, Phil enlisted in the Royal Australian Army, where he proudly served for 29 years. His time in the Army included roles in Fleet Operations and as a Physical Training Instructor. He was honourably discharged in late 2004, marking the end of a fulfilling military career.
Following his Army service, Phil transitioned into healthcare, taking on a role as a Physiotherapist Assistant with Queensland Health, where he continues to support the well-being of others.
Community involvement and other interests
Phil has been actively involved in the community as a soccer coach, sharing his passion for the game with younger generations, and as a youth leader in the Boys Brigade, mentoring and guiding young people.
He has a wide range of interests that keep him energised and engaged:
- Music and playing the guitar
- Exploring ancient Biblical history
- Traveling and experiencing new cultures
- Enjoying sports and outdoor activities, particularly fishing
